Wipe out the scars

The desired skin would be flawless with no scars and marks. And the eagerness to have a clear skin would require the apt treatment from the right place. Scar revision can be performed to improve or reduce the appearance of scars. It also helps to restore the function and corrects skin changes that are caused by an injury, wound, poor healing, or previous surgery.

Dermabrasion

This is an exfoliating technique that will use a rotating instrument to remove the outer layers of skin, generally on the face. New skin will grow over these areas, and it would soften the surface of the skin and reduce irregularities. Dermabrasion also helps to treat certain conditions such as fine lines, sun damage, acne scars, and uneven texture.

Dermabrasion will be performed at the dermatologist’s office. Anesthesia would be given to the patient before beginning the procedure. This is considered to be an outpatient procedure that the patient can go home to recover post the treatment. After giving the anesthesia, the damaged outer layers of skin will be removed to clear out the scars. If it is a complicated procedure, then certain sedatives would also be given to the patient. At times, general anesthesia will also be given, and this depends based on the size and depth of the scar.

MDA is considered to be a non-invasive procedure that will use tiny crystals to exfoliate the skin and remove the superficial layer of dry and dead skin cells. A cosmetic procedure that will be carried out with the help of a dermatologist’s advice. A machine that has a closed vacuum device with a pointed diamond-like machine will be used under this procedure. The machine will assist to smash the gentle abrasion of the particles with suction to remove the dead skin layers. The uppermost layer will be removed. This procedure also helps to stimulate collagen formulation and enhances blood flow. Within 3-4 weeks, the skin would be free of scars and blemishes.

Scar Revision Surgery

A surgery that helps to reduce or improve the appearance of the scars. Based on the size, depth, location, age, and skin characteristics, the surgery would be suggested. This surgery also aids in restoring the function, will correct disfigurement caused due to an injury, wound, poor healing, or previous surgery.

Based on the extent of the surgery, this procedure can be performed under local anesthesia, general anesthesia or with sedative medicines. The marks would vanish after several months or even a year after the wound has healed. Each scar is different hence, there are certain scars that would require revision surgery 60 to 90 days after the scar matures.

Fat Grafting

Skin grafting or fat grafting is a procedure where a thin layer of skin will be taken from another part of the body and places it over the injured area. This would include moving an entire area with the full thickness of the skin, fat, nerves, blood vessels, and muscle from a healthy part of the body. This helps to restore volume in the face, reduces creases or pitted scars, and improves the facial contours. Fat grafting also helps to fill the sunken areas that are caused due to age, acne scars, illness, injury, and more. Thus, fat grafting would bring a leveled look for the individual.

Silicone Strips

Scar massage and pressure therapy, such as silicone strips, can be used to soften and allow the scars to fade. Silicone strips will act to hydrate scar tissue, reducing excessive scar formation, and causing it to disappear. This can be used to treat and prevent abnormal scars, including hypertrophic scars, keloids, which come due to c-section, tummy tucks, injuries, burns, and surgeries.

Chemical Peel

This would contain mild acids that can be used to apply in a single layer on the skin. With this the upper layer of the skin exfoliates and rolls off, exposing a new layer of skin. Deep peel, superficial peel, and medium peel could be the types of peel and based on the severity of the condition, the doctor would perform either of it. Deep peel would help in getting deeper into the skin and treating the scar. Superficial peel would improve the discoloration associated with minor scars. Medium peel would also help with discoloration and mostly used for anti-aging treatment.

Laser Resurfacing

Laser treatment can be used to soften the surface of the scar, and this would, in turn, help to stimulate the new collagen growth within the scar. Laser resurfacing would work just like chemical peel and dermabrasion of removing the top layer of the skin. High-powered laser beams would be used for skin removal. Erbium and carbon-dioxide laser resurfacing are the varied types under this. Erbium is considered to be the safest method for the face and carbon dioxide will be extremely effective in treating scars. Normally, for deep and large scars, doctors would recommend laser treatment.

PRP or Platelet Rich Plasma is concentrated blood plasma which has 3 to 5 times the number of platelets found in normal blood. Platelets would help to produce collagen in the body and this medium would regenerate the tissue, remove the dark spots, tighten the lines, and much more. PRP will be injected into the affected area to boost the growth inducing factors.

There are several ways to eradicate scars, and the new wound can be closed carefully. Based on the size, depth of the scar, age of the patient, and skin characteristics, the doctor would suggest the treatment. At Sparha Advanced Wellness Studio, the doctor and the team provide the best cost-effective measures to treat scars and other marks based on the necessity.
